The new year has
started and I would like to introduce myself to those of you that don’t
know me. My name is Carmen O. Brown, and I’m your Philadelphia Regional
Ophthalmic Society (PROS) president. I’ve been in ophthalmology for
several years, and fortunately I'm retired now, but still am actively
involved in the PROS. This past summer the PROS board members had
several meetings to discuss the future of the organization. I thought
that a locally based organization that has been in existence for well
over 30 years could not just go away. So, I expressed the interest in
keeping PROS relevant in the area. The first thing I proposed is that
the PROS continue our spring and fall 4 credit brunch meeting. This past
fall, for the first time in our existence the PROS board elected to
offer the brunch meeting for FREE, to all members and non-members to see
if there was still an interest and we were pleased with the outcome! To
those who came to the brunch meeting, I would like to say THANK YOU. At
that meeting there were several attendees that show interest in joining
the PROS board, and again thank you. As time moves on several of our
board members have stepped down, retired, and/or relocated. So the
newfound interest of several attendees of our brunch is welcomed. So to
everyone in receipt of this message, let’s keep this organization
moving! If you are interested in helping to plan the meetings, suggest a
speaker, or any just let us know your thoughts, please reach out to one
of the board members. This year is the 75th anniversary of the Annual
Wills Eye conference. The meeting details have been mailed out, and if
you have not received yours, please check the Wills Eye website
